more bang for your buck

Hey,

My name is Danny Bryant, a project manager with QSP Media. We specialize in creating music-marketing campaigns and digital distribution services for small labels and independent musicians.  I checked out your page and really liked “ Quatre”, and think it would be a great fit for our Metal Mania compilation project.

The music industry is hard to break into, so we’ve designed these compilations as a way for rising musicians to take the next step, getting you some great exposure while connecting you with other artists and future partners.  When we organize these compilations we use the strength of numbers to keep costs down and get your music heard, providing services otherwise unavailable or too expensive for unsigned and indie artists.

    Here’s the deal:

- We will master your track and produce a retail ready album with a professional CD booklet, barcode and shrink wrapping.

- We will send the CD/Comp Card to our promotional partners at major and indie labels, mainstream, college and internet radio stations and our contacts throughout the industry.

- We will distribute the album digitally, making your music available as a single and a ringtone on over 300 different digital retailers. You get 50% of the proceeds from your track.

- We will send you 50 copies of the CD/Comp Card to sell and make a profit off of or give away to your fans and friends.  By selling the CDs, you have the opportunity to make money off of your music while the other artists expose your tracks to a whole new audience.

In return, we ask for our artists to invest in the project. 225 USD covers the cost of the above services and allows you to keep all the rights to your music while we help promote you and get you moving forward with your music career. We do have a couple options to choose from as well, we can swap out the Cd’s for Comp Cards, which are basically a digital version of a Cd. Download cards are the future of the music industry, connecting artists and fans directly to digital downloads, cutting out the need for CDs which get ripped to mp3 players anyway, saving resources and setting you apart from and ahead of other bands. That option is only 99 USD. We can also do both 50 Cd’s & 50 Comp Cards for 300 USD. It’s the most bang for your buck! Let me know your thoughts.

Additionally, a portions of the profits from this album will be donated to “For a Brighter Planet” and the “Go Green Initiative” so you will not only be helping yourself as you grow as an artists, but you will be helping the planet as well!

Please give me a call or reply in email with any questions, and to let me know where you stand with the project. My direct email is Danny @ QSPMedia com , and is definitely a better way to stay in contact. Hope to hear from you soon!

Rock On,

Hi Danny -

This sounds like an exciting project and an interesting investment opportunity. I'm inclined to invest, however there are a few reservations I have:

- we'd like to do our own mastering, as we run Master This! Studios here in San Francisco. We'll bill you only for studio time, and don't worry, our rates are competitive....something like "Quatre" would only require about 4-5 studio hours to polish up, probably only run you around $100 (just an estimate)...this can be negotiated to be a discount on our initial investment (see below for further points on this)

- we'd need to approve both the artwork & the other contributors tracks prior to any agreement - sorry if this one seems obvious or is something you'd already planned on, but obviously we can't agree to be involved without ensuring that no racist, sexist, or homophobic imagery or content will be included in the final release (satanism is negotiable since let's face it, this is metal).

- while 300 USD is a reasonable rate for an unknown artist to purchase 50 download cards & 50 CDs, the buzz that our band would bring to this project requires a severly discounted rate. I'm sure you're probably aware, since you contacted us, that our band has been making waves globally, with album sales throughout the US as well as overseas - most notably Japan, where our debut record was greeted warmly (about 10% of our sales were overseas orders - not bad considering our band has yet to tour there!). I'm of the opinion that, given that we'll be mastering the song ourselves AND our involvement will basically guarantee the success of this project, our initial investment should be waived.

- finally, we'd prefer if no proceeds were donated to environmental agencies. as climategate has proven, climate change is a myth, and these agencies are just an excuse for drugged-up beatniks to dodge having a real job!

thanks again for getting in touch, please let me know your thoughts on the above.

i had a dream last night where i was at someone's house (can't remember who) and i couldn't stop drinking their root beer and i'm pretty sure they had like a 12 pack of diet mug brand root beer and the last thing i remember in the dream was taking the third to last one and seeing the person who bought the root beer glare at me and i gave him a "what the fuck are you gonna do about it" style evil eye and popped it open and drank the whole root beer right then and there in front of him while that sucker just stood there and WATCHED
