Hey,
Thanks for getting back to me and expressing interest in the compilation. We would love to work with you on the Metal Mania project!
I understand that you'd prefer to keep the mastering in house at Master This!, which is just fine. The mastering tech would only have to make sure the equalization was on point the the volumes and everything. Also, I don't have a full line up as of yet. We're accepting submissions up until the end of this month, and once we enter the mastering stage, our mastering tech groups the artists together based on similar sound. Each artist will be of the same genre & caliber, and that way we can target a particular demographic audience. I will also have to locate the art work for the album. I know we've had our designer make some new art work for the new album, so it might not be ready yet. Check out all of our past albums, however, to get an idea of what it will be like at Itunes/Napster/Rhapsody/Zune/Amazon....etc. I have also attached the Metal Mania submission forms (contract) so you can check them out. Let me know your thoughts on the matter.
In addition, we do require each artist to invest into the compilation. Our standard 50 Cd package is $235, the $300 package is for 50 Cd's & 50 Comp Cards. We do have some cheaper options though, which might be more suitable for you. We can do a smaller amount of Cd's (25 Cd's= $145), we could setup a payment plan, or we have the Comp Card option for only $105. Download cards (Comp Cards) are the future of the music industry, connecting artists and fans directly to digital downloads, cutting out the need for CDs which get ripped to mp3 players anyway, saving resources and setting you apart from and ahead of other bands. With this option, you will receive 50 copies of the Comp Card to sell at whatever price you choose. These credit card sized download cards feature full color artwork on the front as well as information on the back with links and codes for your fans to download your music. You'll also have two songs featured on the compilation, and just like the Cd's you keep 100% of your sales. Let me know which option peaks your interest.
We also offer Digital Distribution (full album) services at no cost, and it's an 80-20 split with the royalties favoring the artist. Check out : http://www.distrophonix.com/ for more info. If you're not really looking to invest in the compilation, then maybe this is more along the lines of what you're looking for as far as promotion goes? Just let me know. We also offer mastering, album pressing, merch, graphic/web design, and even Rock Band encoding. http://www.quickstarproductions.com/services.html .
If you have any other questions don't hesitate to give me a call or reply back in email. Look forward to working with you and I hope to hear back from you soon!

Hi Danny -
First things first, I haven't downloaded the attached contract - your message was filtered into my "junk e-mail" folder, and as such I'm suspicious about the contents. If you can forward the text of the contract in the body of an e-mail I can have legal give it a look, but I haven't read through it yet, so apologies in advance if any of the below is addressed in the contract.
That said, I'm wondering if we can find some middle ground on the artist investment. Celine Dion has a policy to not pay for anything we do, and frankly, we've built up enough of a fanbase that we really don't need to. But I understand that you're a label, and you certainly don't want to risk any of your own funds on pressing costs. So here's an idea - we don't actually need any artist copies of this compilation, so instead of us investing to press a number of CDs, we just give you our two songs and we'll link our fans (via our e-mail blast - 10k followers and rising!) to the QSP store site where they can purchase the record. Then after you've recouped on the production costs, we'll split the profits 50-50. This way we don't have to pay extra for pressing costs (which seems fair since we've already invested our time/money into recording/mastering) and you don't have to press as large a number of CDs. We can follow this same 50/50 after recoup model on any subsequent represses. Also, we should discuss points (sorry again if points are addressed in the contract).
Definitely let me know when your designer has finished the artwork for the compilation, and when you have other bands for the CD - we're eagerly awaiting to see your vision for our work!
